A pivotal scripture that has always been a tremendous support to my understanding of how parents are instructed to pass on their values and faith is found in Psalm 78:1-7. The scriptures declare that we must not hide God's teachings and ways from our children, but to be faithful to pass on His praiseworthy deeds to our children, and they in turn would pass on those truths to the next generation, and they in turn would repeat the process of passing on truth. This reminds me very much of a relay race at a track meet. The smooth and secure passing of the baton is critical if a relay team is to do well. One runner runs his/her portion of the race and then hands off the baton so the next runner can run his/her race. If we could allow the baton to represent truth and faith, then it is critical that this "passing process" be done with skill and wisdom. The result of that, as verse seven declares is that "then they would put their trust in God and would not forget His deeds but would keep His commands."
What an incredible promise. Whether you are homeschooling, or place your children in a Christian school, you are demonstrating that you understand the importance of obeying God's Word and being faithful in "passing on the baton!" Contact Mark at (250) 592-1759 or toll free at (866) 877-1737.

Brenda is a homeschool mother of seven currently spanning Primary to College level. She has been homeschooling since becoming aware of the option in 1990 when their oldest was in Grade One. In her second year she became involved in local homeschool support groups benefitting from and serving within the Homeschool community. Then she saw a need, and started Train Up A Child Homeschool Bookstore (now affiliated with RCOA as Island Homeschool Resources). Her favourite part was interviewing and advising homeschool families in the curriculum selection process. She loves to see a good match made between learning and teaching styles. She has also taken over TUBS www.themeunitboxstudies.com and is adding and expanding the "unit studies in a box" business to meet PLOs. Brenda has been involved with DL programs since they started which makes her very familiar with Student Learning Plans and Provincial Learning Outcomes. Brenda is thrilled to be serving the Homeschool community through her position as Home Learning and Curriculum Consultant with Regent Christian Online Academy. She provides every new family that enrols with RCOA with a personal consultation, researches and field tests new curriculums, advises RCOA's teachers, and co-ordinates the Duncan Resource Centre. Contact Brenda by email or you can reach her by phone at the RCOA office most Mondays at 1-250-592-1759.
