RCOA is growing! Applications for employment for both part time and full time teachers are always welcome.

There are two general descriptions of teaching duties that RCOA has need of, to support schooling at home.

  1. Grades K-7 Overall Home Teachers
Teachers applying for this area should be Elementary specialists, able to support parents utilizing a wide variety of curricula in all subjects, including our online formatted courses.
  2. Grades 8-12 – Subject Specialty Teachers
Teachers applying for this area should be proficient in at least two or three subject areas. Many of the courses will be delivered in the online format, but many families do prefer the flexibility of the Individualized format, as well.

RCOA is looking for teachers who:

  • Are active evangelical Christians
  • Are BC certified (College of Teachers or Independent Schools Branch)
  • Esteem schooling at home as a valid and precious educational option (teachers who have homeschooling experience, or who are presently homeschooling make ideal teachers)
  • Are self-disciplined. RCOA offers these teaching opportunities as a self-employed contractual position
  • Teachers desiring to apply need to send, preferably by email attachment (MS Word or Adobe Acrobat PDF file), the following documents:
    • Updated resume
    • Specific area of Expertise
    • Family/Church info
    • Statement of Philosophy of Christian Education (this should include your philosophy of schooling at home)
    • Statement of Faith
  • As well, all interested teachers should browse through the RCOA website, particularly examining our faith statement, and the roles of teachers and parents under the Policy section, our Vision and Mission Statement, and also our Teaching Program link. This should give each prospective teacher a rudimentary understanding of who we are. The principal will follow up all applications with a phone call, and, if mutually agreed upon, a personal interview.
